Hi. I am really a geek lol. But, just thought you'd like to know, KeySoft 7.5 build 29 is available, it fixes some bugs and adds support for an Anticom 802.11G wireless card.

I don't have an SD card, so I cannot try this update. I'm running 7.5 build 20 on my mPower.

According to HumanWare, this shouldn't be ran on a PK or Classic.

Yup, I have it, upgraded to it last night, but don't really notice a difference, bug or otherwise. But then I don't use keyplan too much, or plug in many USB devices.

Very much looking forward to ks 8! Supposedly they will upgrade to CE 6!

8 sounds like it's going to have a lot in it from what i've been hearing. haven't heard of anything in it yet, but can't wait

I only know that it will take 2 SMA counts so get 'em ready. I can't upgrade cuz I don't have an sd card. Meh!

Post 5 by KC8PNL (The best criticism of the bad is the practice of the better.) on Tuesday, 27-May-2008 3:14:26

Why would it take 2 sma's when it's only 1 update? I also hope they start supporting sdhc cards, I just bought a 4gb one, and would love to put all of my gps map data on it. If they fixed keyplan, I'll be happy, since mine has been corrupted for the past month and a half. Thanks for letting us know the patch is available BNN!

Post 6 by rat (star trek rules!) on Tuesday, 27-May-2008 3:32:48

if hw updates to another os, one SMA count will be for the os, like when they updated to 6.1. that means i'll be buying another SMA plan this summer... oh well

Post 7 by KC8PNL (The best criticism of the bad is the practice of the better.) on Tuesday, 27-May-2008 7:22:45

That blows! I guess I'll have to buy an sma. What makes them think they can charge 2 sma's? They're upgrading the software in general, so shouldn't that just count as part of it. I guess they live up to their name inhumaneware afterall.

Post 8 by rat (star trek rules!) on Tuesday, 27-May-2008 8:18:39

if i remember right they mad a deal with 5.1 users if the had one SMA count left when they tried to go to 6.1. if they bought an SMA then, they ould get a free count, so they could update and still have 2 counts left.

Post 9 by chikorita (move over school!) on Tuesday, 27-May-2008 11:16:36

to post 7,Well, the OS is made by Microsoft, come on! lol! But why does everyone feel they have to suck all the money out of the blind people? $200 for keysoft, $1000 for jaws, around $900 to get a get the mother board on the bn replaced (my USB client broke on my revision c2 board...) I can live without USB client support, I've had that for a couple years. But what all does this RVc6 or whatever do? And why isn't jaws reading properly in this edit box with firefox 2.0.0.14? ah well.

To clarrify, as I believe they're doing:

One SMA for a Windows CE upgrade
One SMA count for the actual upgrade

However, please don't bash me on that since I don't know if that's true, however there's been tons of speculation on the BN list that that is indeed the case.

To fix your corrupted keyplan, open KeyPlan and select the maintance utility or something. Sorry I can't spell correctly Lol.

That should fix it.

To BigD with the USB:

My USB port split and is now loose. On top of that, my cf card slot is messed up, 900dollars for a motherboard fix? No thanks...

Post 11 by BrailleNote Nut (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Tuesday, 27-May-2008 16:35:40

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, that I do not think the classics are supported after on the 8.0 upgrade. I don't remember if it was the 8.0 upgrade or the one after that they were dropping classic support for, but just... It's coming for all you classic owners, so get ready.

Post 12 by chikorita (move over school!) on Tuesday, 27-May-2008 22:06:25

lol. Yeah MikeF told me you have had like 30 or so bn's? On April 18, 2006 I was connected to activeSync via USB and accidentally dropped my bn, which reset itself. I had someone look at it and they say some piece in the port is loose. But $900 to replace it... My port's just fine thanks. what did you do to your's? Drop it with a cf card in?

Post 13 by BrailleNote Nut (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Wednesday, 28-May-2008 19:05:37

Hmm. Don't remember, dropped it with some kind of card. I then got that fixed, and then somehow it fell during an upgrade. Wasn't too pleasant I can tell you.

Post 14 by rat (star trek rules!) on Wednesday, 28-May-2008 22:21:17

hard on brailleNotes aren't you? rofl

Post 15 by chikorita (move over school!) on Wednesday, 28-May-2008 22:25:12

Yeah lol. Heard he's had like 30 of them, but that could just be MikeF exadurating... or is it???

Post 16 by BrailleNote Nut (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Thursday, 29-May-2008 16:07:28

Yes he is exaterating. 30 is a bit many... Perhaps 3 repairs, take out the 0. lol

I actually ran the keyplan maintinence application, and it tells me that the planner is corrupted, and then I have to reset it. I was hoping the upgrade to the new build would remody the problem, but my hopes were quickly dashed.

Post 18 by BrailleNote Nut (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Thursday, 29-May-2008 17:25:38

back up your data, and do a jkl reset. oops, that's a4 5 6 reset for those on a bt. like me, i'm just used to the qt commands because I just switched over. so that's a jkl(qt) or 4 5 6(bt)reset. it wipes all your data, so do. back. it. up! you've been warned. You should be backing up anyway but. I'm not here to scold those who don't. Lol

Post 19 by chikorita (move over school!) on Thursday, 29-May-2008 17:36:50

no, that just erases your keysoft disk. the planner isn't on that disk,
it's on the flash disk in a folder called keyplan. backup then delete that folder, then reset.

Post 20 by BrailleNote Nut (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Thursday, 29-May-2008 21:45:44

Well. It's still good practice to back up. Just in case. I once had a disaster with that, thinking it was the ks disk and something happened, and all! my stuff went down the tubes

Post 21 by KC8PNL (The best criticism of the bad is the practice of the better.) on Thursday, 05-Jun-2008 6:06:27

I just coppied an old planner that wasn't corrupted and it works fine now. Making back-ups should be done reguarly, I typically do 1 pir week. Thanks for the help BNN.

Post 22 by battle star queen (I just keep on posting!) on Sunday, 08-Jun-2008 0:39:27

to poster five there is a way to fix keyplan. If you are using a bn with a braille keyboard press f for file meanager, then f for folder meanager, press e for erase folder, then press enter on flash disk when the drive is spoken or comes up on your braille display, then go to your list of folders by pressing the space bar, press k until you hear keyplan and press enter. the bn will say that all files are protected and will then ask if you want to erase them anyway. Press a to erase all the files in the keyplan folder. Then to run the factory softwar hold down kekeys 1 2 and 3 on a braille keyboard. and press reset. Continue to hold down the keys until your bn starts speaking. To fix this problem using a bn with a qt keyboard follow steps i've mentioned. Then to run the factory installed softwre hold down s d f and press reset until your bn starts speaking. Hope this helps.

Speaking of planners, anyone know what the keyplan maintenance utility is for? There's no ducumentation on it.

Thanks.

Post 24 by BrailleNote Nut (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Sunday, 08-Jun-2008 19:19:19

Uhh, if a keyplan database file goes crap, it apparently is supposed to fix it. That's worth squat, I havent gotten it to do a damn except corrupt it even more. Sheesh with these guys.

Post 25 by BrailleNote Nut (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Sunday, 08-Jun-2008 19:20:02

Er. I meant to say, sheesh with these guys, meaning HumanWare. document the damn thing if your gonna release it...
